Our shared story
A Century of Faith
Our story connects five local Methodist congregations, the formation of the Uniting Church and the renewal of our Concord West building. These milestones trace that shared history.

The Church Opens
The original church building was opened by Mrs L. E. Nash on Saturday, 22 August 1925, for the Methodist Church of Australasia.
22 June 1977
Becoming a Uniting Church
The Uniting Church in Australia was formed at a service in Sydney Town Hall, bringing together the Methodist Church of Australasia, the Presbyterian Church of Australia and the Congregational Union of Australia. Concord West Methodist Church became part of this new church.
1980
Five Churches, One Parish

28 July 1991
A Congregation Reunited
After renovation, Concord West opened with its first service as UCA Concord Congregation, welcoming members from all five churches. Average Sunday attendance was 93 in 1991.

A Changing Community
As Concord’s population changed, fewer people were worshipping in each of the five churches. Concord Wesley transferred to Sydney Cheil Uniting Church, Concord, serving Korean speakers. Rhodes and Concord East churches closed and their properties were sold.
Central Concord’s property was retained for an Op Shop, adult fellowship and youth activities, while members from all five churches came together at the renovated Concord West building in 1991.
